Palmer Gas & Oil
National Propane Day
Welcome to Palmer Gas & Oil, where we make it our mission to provide you with service that’s so friendly, simple, and safe – you can focus on what really matters in your life and leave your energy needs to us.
Be Prepared This Heating Season
Are you without heat?
If you find yourself without heat, before scheduling any service appointment, please check your tank gauge to ensure that you have fuel. Lack of fuel will stop your heating system and other appliances such as gas dryers, gas fireplaces, and log sets from working.
- If you are unable to check your gauge yourself, please contact us so that we can provide assistance.
- If you are without fuel, please contact our team so that we can arrange for a delivery.
Should you move to automatic delivery?
Take the guess work out of fuel deliveries and let us manage your oil/propane schedule. Remember, if you are a will-call customer, you will need to watch your gauge carefully and call us 7- to 10-days prior to ordering a delivery.
- Please call us when your propane tank is at no less than 40% full and/or when your oil tank is at no less than 3/8 full.
- Run outs incur special trip charges and fees. Additional fees also apply for less than minimum delivery orders.
Is your driveway clear?
We always want to deliver your fuel as scheduled. However, the safety of you and our team is of utmost importance to us. Our drivers are instructed not to deliver if they do not believe they can do so safely.
- Driveways must be cleared of ice and snow and plowed wide enough to accommodate one of our fuel vehicles. For particularly challenging driveways, we may request that you sand or salt, as well.
- Though you may be able to easily drive your car up your snowy driveway, driving a fuel truck poses significant risks primarily due to weight and load balance.
- If we cannot deliver as scheduled, return trips may be delayed.

Is there a path to your tanks and/or fill?
Tanks and tank domes must be shoveled out and there must be a clear path from our truck to your tanks. It is not safe for our drivers to climb over snow piles or wade through drifts to reach your fill pipe or tanks.
- Our fuel hoses are not as flexible as they may appear. We cannot easily wrap around your cars, holiday decorations or lawn furniture.
- If we cannot deliver as scheduled, return trips may be delayed.
What about generator preparation?
Test your standby generator and make sure it is serviced annually. If you have a significant power outage (8 hours or more), call us so we can adjust your delivery schedule.
What should you do after snowfall?
Your heating system needs proper air flow to operate safely and efficiently. Clear snow and ice from around your vents after each storm but be gentle – use a broom or your hands after any significant snowfall.
What if you have changes to home heating requirements?
Let us know of any changes in your home that might cause you to burn more fuel. Staying home this winter? More people in your household? Add an appliance. Let us know so that we can adjust your delivery schedule.
SAFETY TIP SPOTLIGHT:
Don’t Let Freeze-Ups
Put You in a Jam!
If you leave your heating system operational while your home is unoccupied for an extended period of time, your home could be at risk.
