Getting Started with Palmer Gas & Oil

Propane is a clean, environmentally friendly fuel and propane appliances maximize energy efficiency, helping reduce costs and consumption in your home. Propane is most commonly used for heating and powering appliances such as stoves, water heaters, dryers, and generators. It can also be used for outdoor grilling, kitchens, lighting, patio heaters, fire pits, and swimming pools. Click here to learn more about all the ways propane can be used for your home.

Signing up with Palmer Gas & Oil is easy! Simply call our friendly customer service representatives or fill out [this online form] to get started. We will take care of the rest!

Our main facility and office is located at 13 Hall Farm Road, Atkinson NH. We also have 3 fuel storage facilities, located in Atkinson, Raymond, and Somersworth, NH!

We are your one stop shop for all your heating and cooling needs. We handle the installation, delivery, and service of propane and many propane appliances. This includes above and below ground tanks, generators, hot water heaters, furnaces, and pool heaters. We also have licensed service technicians on staff to tackle any situation!

We offer several flexible payment options. You can pay online through your customer portal, call in and pay over the phone, or even come into our office and pay in person. We accept most Credit Cards, Checks, and Cash. If you prefer to have equal monthly payments (instead of large bills in the winter), ask about our Budget Plan. Regardless of the method, when you pay within 10 days, you get our Prompt Pay Discount!

We also offer financing on many of our installation projects!

Fuel Delivery

You do not need to be home to receive a delivery, as long as our driver can access your fill location safely. This includes making sure there’s a clear path to your tank (especially after snowfall), unlocked gates, and any other hazards that may prevent a driver from being able to deliver.

Our automatic delivery provides you with true peace of mind. You don’t have to think about watching your fuel gauge or have to take time to call us to schedule a delivery. We schedule for you based on prior usage and upcoming weather. Plus, while on auto, you will never pay a special trip charge to fill your tank and restart your heating equipment ($180 savings*)!

You can also request a delivery through your My Account portal!

We encourage you to be an automatic delivery customer, but if you prefer to be on a will-call basis, you will need to watch your gauge carefully, and provide at least one week notice when ordering a delivery.  Please call us when your propane tank is at no less than 40% full and when your oil tank is at no less than a 3/8 full. If an emergency delivery is needed, a special trip charge will apply. Minimum delivery depends on tank size. An additional fee applies to less than minimum delivery orders.

Propane expands in heat, much like water, creating pressure that can build in your tank. The extra space is designed to alleviate pressure buildup and is why we only fill propane tanks to 80%, regardless of the tank size.

We offer 24/7 emergency fuel delivery. When you’re on automatic delivery, we will waive all special trip charges to fill your tank and restart heating equipment. If you’re on will-call, a special trip charge will apply.

Tanks and Equipment

Selecting the right tank size depends on many factors, like usage, location, and what appliances you are going to use or add in the future. To determine what is best for you, please call our Customer Service Representatives at 603-898-7986.

While we will maintain the tank itself, we do ask that you please keep grass, plants, and brush from growing up and around your tank. Do not use the area immediately around your tank for storage. In the winter, it is also especially important to clear any snow or ice from around the tank. These precautions will help ensure your safety and provide our driver with easy access to your tank.

Safety Information

Safety is our top priority and we take every potential gas leak very seriously. If you smell gas inside or outside of your home:

  • NO FLAMES OR SPARKS. Extinguish all smoking materials or open flames. Do not turn on any lights or appliances.
  • LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY. Evacuate everyone from the building or area where you smell gas and get to a safe distance far from the source.
  • SHUT OFF THE GAS. If safe to do so, turn off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank. Close the valve by turning it to the right(clockwise).
  • REPORT THE LEAK. From a safe location, call us immediately at 603-898-7986, or 911 if necessary.
  • DO NOT RETURN TO THE BUILDING OR AREA until an emergency responder, or qualified service  technician determines that it is safe to do so.
  • GET YOUR SYSTEM CHECKED. Before you attempt to use any of your propane appliances, your propane retailer or a qualified service technician must check your entire system to ensure that it is leak-free.
