Going Paperless: A Better Way to Deliver Your Invoices

For decades, Palmer Gas & Oil customers have known our heating oil or propane was delivered by the telltale pink Palmer envelopes left on our doors … or perhaps retrieved from nearby bushes if the wind was particularly strong.

That simple pink envelope has been a reliable, familiar account of how much fuel was delivered, the total cost of our delivery, and your balance due. Now we’re moving on to something better: As part of our continued effort to move to a paperless strategy, we’re making our pink envelopes digital too!

As of Sept. 1, 2026, Palmer will offer our customers new digital invoices that will post both to your email address and to Palmer’s customer portal, available via login at PalmerGas.com. Here’s why the change matters.

Why We’re Making the Change

Going paperless means all Palmer customers will get an email when your fuel delivery is complete, with a digital invoice attached. You’ll have online access to your invoices, delivery history, and account balance anytime via the PalmerGas.com customer portal – all the information that’s been on your delivery slip will be accessible from your phone or computer, relieving us all from the burden of inclement weather blowing your bill into your neighbor’s yard.

And this isn’t the only benefit: Paper waste is a significant issue for many local households and businesses:

• The EPA estimates that Americans generate about 5 pounds of trash per person per day.
• The average American uses about 141 pounds of paper per year, according to the American Forest & Paper Association.
• Research shows that paper documents often end up lost, faded, or thrown away before they’re ever needed, creating unused and unnecessary waste.

For a fuel delivery company with tens of thousands of local customers and community members, paper invoices represent a serious environmental footprint, and Palmer means to change that.

The Numbers Tell the Story

The impact of going paperless is significant:

• Paper production accounts for about 10% of global industrial water use, according to the World Wildlife Fund.
• Recycling just one ton of paper saves 24 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, and 3 cubic yards of landfill space, according to the EPA.
• Forbes research on sustainable office practices shows that transitioning to digital operations significantly reduces an organization’s environmental footprint.

When Palmer Gas eliminates paper delivery tickets for our customers, we’re promising:

✓  Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of sheets of paper will no longer be used annually.
✓  Thousands of gallons of water will be saved in manufacturing.
✓  Significantly reduced landfill waste generated by Palmer from our delivery operations.
✓  Lower carbon emissions from less paper production, transportation, shipping, etc.
✓  Reduced energy consumption in printing and mailing operations.

That’s something that we’re 1,000% proud to be part of.

What This Means for You

Going paperless will make your relationship with Palmer simpler and more convenient, too. Your records will be accessible 24/7 — no more digging through kitchen drawers or canvassing the neighborhood worrying about lost pink envelopes. Our emails will arrive instantly, so you’ll never miss important payment or delivery information. And, as always, our customer service team is always available via phone to answer your questions.
