New Hampshire Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Information & Resources
Fuel Assistance
The U.S. Department of Energy provides funding for fuel assistance to members of communities across the country who are elderly, disabled, and low income. Palmer Gas & Oil is an active participant in these programs and works with current and prospective recipients of this benefit to ensure their fuel needs are met.
In New Hampshire, depending on the level of need, a household’s benefit could be as high as $2,177 and be applied to fuel costs that occur beginning in October 2025 through the following winter months.
This date range will depend on the state you reside in. Your benefit amount does not count as income when applying for other assistance programs.
For The Upcoming 2025-2026 Season…
Applications begin to be accepted around July 30, 2025. The specific date may be different from state-to-state. Applications for the following winter season are taken until the year’s funding is fully awarded. If you are considering applying, get your application submitted as soon as possible. You can begin your application by contacting your local Community Action Agency.

Other Benefits Available With Fuel Assistance
Along with your benefit amount, your fuel assistance program may also help households during a heating emergency by securing an emergency delivery of fuel, delaying a shut-off notice, or referring clients to another source of assistance.
Need Help Repairing or Replacing Your Heating Equipment?
In addition to heating costs, The New Hampshire Department of Energy also offers a Weatherization Program for income-eligible families to assist in electrical costs and cost to repair/replace home heating oil tanks other home heating systems. Not Eligible for Assistance Programs?
If you do not meet the income requirements for these programs, you may still be eligible for any of a variety of energy efficiency rebates and incentives through NH Saves.
