A New Fuel Storage Facility & Renewable Propane
National Propane Day
October 7th is National Propane Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the incredible value propane brings to millions of homes, farms, and businesses across the country. It’s a chance to appreciate the people—the technicians, drivers, engineers, safety experts, and countless others—who keep propane safe, available, and accessible every single day.
The vision and birth of National Propane Day started right here in Atkinson NH. The day was championed by our own Charlie Ermer, one of the leaders at Palmer Gas. Many fuels are recognized Nationally over the course of the year, and Charlie realized that Propane was not. Charlie championed the cause by enlisting the aid of Leslie Anderson, the President of the Propane Education Council. With some hard work and persistence National Propane Day was created!

Expanded Fuel Storage
Our latest fuel storage facility didn’t happen overnight, and it didn’t happen alone. The Ermer’s commitment, combined with our workforce, the trust of our partners including community stakeholders, local and state fire officials, and local zoning agencies, as well as partnering with the best plant designers and builders on the east coast helped to make this happen.
This new facility consists of four 45,000-gallon tanks, which when combined with our plant across the street and our Ramond and Somersworth plants gives us a total of 810,000 gallons of propane storage. This is the largest amount of storage in Southern New Hampshire by an independent company.
Renewable Propane
We’re excited to announce that Palmer Gas is the first propane company in southern NH to bring in a load of Renewable Propane, a low-carbon alternative to conventional propane.
It’s 100% sustainable, free from fossil fuels, and has nearly 50% less carbon intensity. Renewable propane also has the same molecular structure, efficiency, and output as conventional propane, so it doesn’t require any additional equipment to use, transport, or store.
Renewable propane is not just a buzzword. It’s a bridge to a low-carbon future—produced from sustainable sources like plant oils, animal fats, and even recycled waste. It’s already being used to reduce emissions in transportation, agriculture, and residential heating. And thanks to our newest facility, we’re making it more available and more affordable for communities across our marketing area.
A Special Thanks
We would like to recognize and give thanks to LP Transportation, the Propane Gas Association of New England, Alliance Energy, and the Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce for their support and assistance towards making this all possible!
